Walk through: Reset – Typographie Kurs 2021
Das Zeichen ist die abstrakte Idee eines Schriftzeichens, die Glyphe ist dessen konkrete grafische Darstellung. Ich habe mich mit 3 zeitgenössischen Gegenständen als Werkzeug auf die Suche der Zeichenfindung gemacht. Ein Wax-Kamm, ein USB-Stick und ein Stück einer Fahrradkette sind die Werkzeuge mit denen ich gearbeitet habe. Das Medium verliert seine Bedeutung, wird zum Werkzeug und geht zurück zum Anfang der Visuellen Kommunikation. Das Ergebnis ist der Versuch, unterschiedliche und abstrakte Schriftformen zu Erstellen. Das Werkzeug gibt die Form vor und die Hand die Richtung. Entstanden ist eine typografische Serie aus unterschiedlichen Figuren die alle die Merkmale der jeweiligen Werkzeuge wiedergeben.

The sign is the abstract idea of a character, the glyph is its concrete graphic representation. I set out on a quest of character discovery using 3 contemporary objects as tools. A wax comb, a USB stick and a piece of a bicycle chain are the tools I worked with. The medium loses its meaning, becomes a tool and goes back to the beginning of visual communication. The result is an attempt to create different and abstract forms of writing. The tool gives the form and the hand the direction. The result is a typographic series of different figures that all reflect the characteristics of the respective tools.
