Kunstpausen – Semesterprojekt 2020/21
An illustrator loses her most important tool: her hand. Her injury is only the symptom of bigger problems. Her hedonistic self-destruction, artistic FOMO and the incapacity of saying no lead to her tendonitis. How can a protagonist without superpowers show weakness, even though she thought she was invincible? During an out-of-body-experience while drinking Yogi-tea, she meets Michelangelo, il divino, who is doing a TED talk about prioritizing. This shows her that pauses are part of the creative process. In the end, the protagonist does not need a miracle cure but instead heals herself through introspection and humor.
The comic „Kunstpausen“ (artistic breaks) is an autobiographical coming-of-age-story. The 28 pages are drawn with fine-liner and printed in Riso. No artists were harmed during the production.
