Strolling Around The Block
.
Which experiences are considered the norm in public space and which are not ? How can this be methodically investigated ? How do bodies inscribe themselves into the city and vice versa ? How does architecture choreograph bodies ? What could strategies of subversion look like ? How are (which) bodies negotiated in public space ? What is considered private and what public ? How do we read the city as a commodity ? What does security mean and to whom does it apply ? What are open spaces and what threatens them ? Where are public toilets for women ? How do I read the city, how different do ping pong tables sound in the different districts of Berlin ?
.
In this course, the participants dealt with public space and moving and drifting through the city as a method of critical observation, as well as appropriation and production of space.

What is meant here is promenading, wandering, strolling, lingering as a performative, above all practically oriented research method in order to examine public space from one's own and situated perspective.
.
A variety of artistic, design and activist positions that have worked critically on the subject of power were made available. Exercises and game instructions of the Situationist International and methodologies of wandering were newly applied and tried out. In this way, individual projects were developed, some of them in groups, on the basis of research questions posed by the participants themselves. The results presented focus on the questions, processes and developments that emerged within the projects. They can be read as extended, imaginary maps of an examination of public space in times of the pandemic.
