Main course design project
Summer semester 2021
The fashion industry, i.e. the economic branch of the fashion world that produces the clothes worn by almost all of Western society, is dominated by economic and pragmatic rules and is influenced by laws of marketing. The commercial system of fashion and the rules of the industry, its multi-layered scenes, control centres, functionaries and decision-making factors were to be looked at in order to recognise areas of personal freedom, potentials and possibilities; perhaps also to break existing rules or to redefine them.
The aim of this project was to explore exciting intersections at the borders of the seemingly incompatible worlds of art, fashion and commercialism and to soften boundaries.
In the first step of the project, the participants designed a collection that formulated the individual, artistic "haute couture" design manifesto.
In the second step of the project, the same qualities were translated into a industrial producable diffusion line.
