WE MUST HAVE TIME, 2021

  • The project " WE MUST HAVE TIME  ” is an attempt to draw attention to everyday duties that are grounding and at the same time they are very underestimated, moreover performed mostly by women. The slogan "We must have time for our laundry" refers to the condition of human life in the modern world, in which we often don’t have time for everyday tasks furthermore, it is a criticism ofthe understimation of people who do these activities not only for themselves but also for others.

Unpaid housework related to cooking, washing or raising children is called reproductive work. A job in this way is not regarded as a job in the strict meaning of this word. In my opinion, it should be considered as necessary labour for the life of individuals and for the whole society.

The installation made of metal clothes hangers is a symbolic attempt to visualize  the unfair and subconscious connection of women with the work that people have to do because it is essential for basic functioning. We should think about why those tasks are unfairly predetermined to a specific gender.

The main goal of the project is to raise awareness of women's rights, which are still violated and not respected nowadays, also it tries to put the spotlight on the necessity and importance  of everyday women’s work.

The project was inspired by the sociological analysis of the role and location of human in the contemporary world.
