DON GIOVANNI ( W. A. Mozart) – Aufführung im Rahmen der Musiktheaterwerkstatt
Kooperation mit der Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“
Theater ist eine Kunstform die nur in Gemeinschaft entstehen kann. An der Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin haben wir keine Möglichkeit eigene Aufführungen zu organisieren und so die Arbeiten der Studierenden unter realen Bedingungen zu überprüfen.
Aus diesem Grund kooperiert das Fachgebiet Bühnen-und Kostümbild, jeweils im Wintersemester mit der Abteilung Regie der Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“. Um die mitunter anspruchsvollen und aufwendigen Produktionen zu realisieren, ist der Einsatz des gesamten Fachgebiets nötig
Im Rahmen der sogenannten Musiktheaterwerkstatt entwerfen und realisieren die Studierenden der Kunsthochschule die Szenenbilder und Kostüme zu den studentischen Opernaufführungen auf der Studiobühne. Dabei arbeiten sie in Teams mit den Regiestudierenden der Musikhochschule zusammen. Die Studierenden des Fachgebiets Bühnen-und Kostümbild konzipierten, entwarfen und realisierten die Bühnenbilder und Kostüme zu jeweils 3 Szenen aus DON GIOVANNI (W.A. Mozart) und ALCINA (G. F. Händel). Es inszenieren, singen und spielen die Studierenden der Musikhochschule.

„Ein „Nachtstück, von Fackeln erhellt“ nannte der Musikwissenschaftler Stefan Kunze den DON GIOVANNI. Dieser Ansatz des nächtlich-labyrinthischen war der Ausgangspunkt unserer bildlichen Überlegungen. Ziel war es, die verwirrenden Seelenzustände Donna Annas, die im Zentrum unserer Szenenauswahl stand, bildlich zu spiegeln. Für den gezeigten Bühnenentwurf standen sowohl die Arbeiten M. C. Eschers als auch Adolphe Appias Pate. Die Kostümentwürfe bilden ein farbliches wie formales Gegengewicht zur strengen Grafik des Bühnenbildes und lehnen sich an eine locker interpretierte 50er-Jahre-Ästhetik an.

Cooperation with the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler"
Theater is an art form that can only be created in community. At the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin we do not have the possibility to organize our own performances and thus to examine the students' work under real conditions.
For this reason, the Department of Stage and Costume Design cooperates with the Directing Department of the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music every winter semester. In order to realize the sometimes demanding and elaborate productions, the commitment of the entire department is necessary.
Within the framework of the so-called music theater workshop, the students of the Academy of Art design and realize the scenery and costumes for the student opera performances on the studio stage. In doing so, they work in teams with the directing students of the Academy of Music. The students of stage and costume design conceived, designed and realized the sets and costumes for 3 scenes each from DON GIOVANNI (W.A. Mozart) and ALCINA (G. F. Händel). The students of the Academy of Music stage, sing and play.

"A "night play, lit by torches" is what musicologist Stefan Kunze called DON GIOVANNI. This approach of the nocturnal-maze-like was the starting point of our pictorial considerations. The aim was to mirror figuratively the confusing states of Donna Anna's soul, which was at the center of our scene selection. The stage design shown was inspired by the works of both M. C. Escher and Adolphe Appia. The costume designs form a colorful and formal counterbalance to the strict graphics of the stage design and lean towards a loosely interpreted 1950s aesthetic.
